Ensky Paper Theater, Jigsaw Puzzles and Character Goods

  • 252 sets listed
  • Printed in Saitama, Japan
  • Direct studio licences
  • Piece counts and finished sizes

We are Ensky, a Japanese maker in Saitama, and we turn licensed artwork into things you can hold: layered paper theater dioramas, anime jigsaw puzzles cut from clear acrylic or thick board, small tilting figures and playing cards. We pulled the whole catalogue onto one shelf so you can see the collection the way it is actually made — by product line first, by series second.

The name says what the work does. To ensky something is to lift it into the sky, and that is the trick every one of these kits pulls: a flat sheet of printed paper becomes a lit stage, a box of pieces becomes a window. We list what we can actually ship right now, what each set contains, how many pieces it has and what the people who built it had to say. Nothing on this page is a guess — every price and every rating comes straight off the live product listing.

Ensky paper theater and jigsaw puzzle range

Sets people are picking up right now

These are the sets moving fastest for us — a mix of high-quality paper craft, big jigsaw boards and desk-sized figures that fans keep coming back for.

The worlds we hold licences for

We license the series we love. Our catalogue runs deep on Studio Ghibli and Pokémon, with Kirby, One Piece, Sanrio and a dozen more in the mix.

What builders told us

Six notes left by people who opened the box, sorted the pieces and glued the last layer down. We copy them across word for word.

Great for collecting..not for acutal play.

These cards are great...but not the quality I was looking for. A lot of people in the reviews said they were high quality. So I decided to purchase for card game night with kids and adults. When I opened them I can tell that they will not hold up to a lot of play. The card stock and coating are not of the 'thickness' that like a regular card deck or uno quality. They are great for collecting and some light to moderate use.

    I LOVED IT!

I LOVED IT!! I cannot wait to find a frame to hang it up, the glue is clear and works perfectly with the pieces, the red smoother was helpful to spread everything evenly. I did not have a hard time putting this 1,000 piece puzzle together, I also love how its not an actual scene from the movie but someone else artwork. The most difficult part would be the white border but I managed my way to finishing it up beautifully.

Great little puzzle that was quick and fun to put together...

I really enjoyed putting this Ensky Studio Ghibli 'Spirited Away' puzzle, and it is a nice, small size, sturdy enough to pick up by itself once put together, and features a great assortment of the characters (especially Haku in dragon form). I also purchased the frame that was made for these 126 piece Ensky puzzles, and it looks great with the puzzle. I highly recommend it to any Studio Ghibli fans who enjoy puzzles.

    SO CUTE! SMALL BUT ADORABLE

They came in a nice package that I wish I hadn’t ripped apart to save for later and I do wish they were a bit cheaper but overall, they are sooooo cute!! I fell in love immediately! 🥺 They’re small but so adorable and definitely a staple in one’s desk decor. I love them so much! I’m glad I took a risk and got them. Pretty high quality, they do have that one toy line in the middle of them but it’s barely noticeable.

    Cute paper craft kit

Got this for my Kirby-obsessed boyfriend. The paper is good quality and the kit comes together nicely. The instructions are only in Japanese but it has clear pictures for each step. I suggest using an exacto knife to keep crisp lines when separating the pieces from the main cards. Other than that you need glue to attach the pieces together, and tweezers for some of the super tiny pieces, as shown in my third pic.

This puzzle is awesome. I enjoyed doing it

This puzzle is awesome. I enjoyed doing it. It arrived in a box, with the pieces in a bag. It also came with a packet of puzzle glue and a small plastic tool to spread it out with. However, the directions on the glue are not in English, but it's fairly common sense... pour the glue around and spread evenly, make sure you get all the way to the edge pieces. The puzzle looks just like the picture.

Buying an Ensky Puzzle or Paper Theater Kit

Most people arrive here looking for one of three things: an Ensky paper theater kit of a scene they love, an anime jigsaw puzzle with a piece count that suits an evening, or an ArtCrystal panel because they have seen one lit from behind. All three are on this page, split by line, and every entry carries the number that actually decides the purchase — the piece count, the finished size and the price as it stood when we last pulled the listing.

The paper theater kits are the ones we are asked about most. They arrive as flat printed sheets, need nothing but white glue and tweezers, and finish at roughly the footprint of a paperback. Studio Ghibli scenes from My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service, Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle run alongside Pokémon, Demon Slayer, One Piece and Sanrio, and the Cube and Craft variants add depth and layers for anyone who has already built a standard one.

Our jigsaw puzzles come in three materials and they behave differently. Standard Japanese cardboard is matte, tight-cut and forgiving. Artboard is a stiff canvas-textured panel that needs no frame. ArtCrystal is transparent plastic — harder than the count suggests, and the only one of the three that passes light. Counts run from 108-piece petit sizes up to 1000-piece boards, with panoramic cuts for the wide One Piece and scenery artwork.

Everything here is made by us in Saitama under direct licence from the studios that own the characters, so the colour on a Totoro forest is the colour it was painted. Runs are small and licences expire, which is why a set that sells through rarely comes back. If one has gone, the quickest substitute is almost always the same scene in another material.

A word on the numbers in each entry. The piece count tells you how long an evening will run, the finished size tells you whether a panel suits the wall you had in mind, and the series line tells you which characters are featuring on it. Where a set contains more than one sheet, or more than one figure, we say so. That is the information we would want in front of us before ordering, so it is the information we print — paper toys and puzzles listed the same way whether the design is twenty years old or three months old.

Everything on these pages is official Ensky product, made under licence and held to one high-quality printing standard whether it is a 1000-piece board or a single charm. The latest arrivals usually celebrate something: an anniversary, a film back in cinemas, a Kirby design that runs for one season. That is where the excitement sits for most of the people who write to us — not a catalogue number, but a scene they have watched twenty times finally arriving as a kit worth a weekend of playing about with glue. The questions we are asked most often are answered below; anything more personal can go to our inbox, where a person reads it.

Across the collection the design brief has not changed in twenty years: print the show at the quality the artwork was painted at, say exactly what the box contains, and let the official licence do the rest. Taking a 1000-piece board from sealed wrap to a finished picture should feel the same now as it did then, and the high-quality stock behind every set is the reason it does. A latest run featuring an anniversary scene is worth the excitement; a sticker on an old box is not, which is why we would rather celebrate with a new design than a new label.

Questions we get asked

What is Ensky?

We are Ensky, a Japanese toy and paper-goods maker based in Saitama. We license artwork from anime and game studios and turn it into jigsaw puzzles, layered paper theater dioramas, figures, playing cards and character goods. We have been printing puzzles for decades and the paper theater format is our own invention.

What does the word ensky mean?

To ensky something is to lift it into the sky or set it among the stars. It is an old English verb, and it is a fair description of what the kits do to a flat sheet of printed paper.

Are Ensky puzzles good quality?

The board is cut tight and the print is matte, which is the combination most builders want. Pieces hold together when you lift a finished section, and the ArtCrystal line is moulded plastic rather than card, so it does not soften with handling at all.

What are the most popular Ensky sets?

Paper theater kits and the Studio Ghibli jigsaw puzzles move fastest, with the Pokémon line-ups close behind. Among figures, the nesting dolls and the tilting parakeets from The Boy and the Heron are the ones that sell out first.

Where are these puzzles and toys made?

We design and manufacture in Japan. Our office sits in Saitama, just north of Tokyo, and the licensed artwork comes from the studios we work with directly.

How long do the puzzles take to finish?

It depends on the count, the artwork and how many people are at the table. A 300-piece set is an evening; a 1000-piece painted background can run five to eleven hours. Transparent ArtCrystal sets take longer than their count suggests.
