Chihiro in a Mysterious Town is paper theater, the format we invented: die-cut layers, no knife, a diorama at the end. The bathhouse artwork is all warm light against deep shadow, so side lighting matters.

Give it side light when it is finished. We draw the layer shadows into the design and overhead light flattens every one of them. We list it beside the other paper theater sets so you can compare sizes before you choose.

What is in the box

  • From the hit Studio Ghibli Film Spirited Away.
  • Clever artistic uses of paper are one of the many things characteristic of Japanese culture and this item is no exception.
  • Create a multi-layered paper 3-D scene of Chihiro, No-Face, Boh Mouse, and Fly Bird in front of the bathhouse.

It is the best activity if you have the patience and steady hands.

I really enjoyed the process of doing each screen one at a time. It takes patience to place glued pieces precisely in designated areas. I will definitely be getting more paper theaters in the near future. I would also say that it is a bit expensive, yet it was worth it because of the high-quality cardstock and details.

    Great project, worth every penny!

This paper theater was absolutely worth the money. Everything was cut perfectly. The package arrived in good shape and on time. Spirited Away is one of my favorite Ghibli movies and this product captured it really well. The project itself does require some attention to detail but really wasn't difficult to do.

    Beautiful present for Ghibli fans

This was an amazing present for my mother. She really loved all the detail I was able to put into the artwork and since it was 3D she fell in love with it even more!! Definitely buying and recommending to other studio ghibli fans
